“If he didn’t drink absinthe, he would be somebody else. Personality must be accepted for what it is. You mustn’t mind that a poet is a drunk, rather than drunks are not always poets.”

The tenacity and desire to perform overshadows all reason. Our individual styles have evolved into an endless whirlwind of rock & roll. The passion for the music and cohesiveness as a band continues to guide the way.

In early fall of 2008 we (the band) will be releasing our very first album titled "Here For Now" with producer Dave Dunn.

“absente” From where does the name come from? Toulouse-Lautrec drank it from a hollowed wooden walking stick. Degas immortalized it in his bleary-eyed painting, “Absinthe Drinker.” And Van Gogh nursed a disturbed mind on the aquamarine liquor, which may have encouraged him to amputate his ear.

“It is literary and hedonistic at the same time. It appeals to serious drinkers, thinkers and artists.” Absinthe encourages conversation, independent thought and creativity.

After building our studio, we raised our glasses and toasted with the drink Absinthe. And so became the name “absente”.  At least that’s how we remember it….

“After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, and that is the most horrible thing in the world.”

Oscar Wilde
